About Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU
The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS BHU) stands as a beacon of medical education and healthcare in Northern India. Established in 1960, the institute has grown into a comprehensive medical university offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various medical and paramedical disciplines.
Located in the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, IMS BHU operates a 1,200-bed Sir Sunderlal Hospital that provides tertiary care to patients from across Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Nepal. Our institute is deeply committed to the vision of its founder, Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, who emphasized the synthesis of scientific knowledge with human values.

Our Campus & Heritage
The IMS BHU campus spans over 50 acres within the sprawling BHU campus. Our infrastructure includes state-of-the-art lecture halls, laboratories, research facilities, and hostels. The architecture blends traditional Indian elements with modern functional design.
The Sir Sunderlal Hospital, attached to the institute, is a tertiary care referral center equipped with advanced medical technology including MRI, CT scan, cardiac catheterization lab, and fully automated laboratories.
